Morning Grains

Morning grains in a decorative mug.

I don’t consider myself a garage-saler. If there’s one thing that annoys me, it’s random and useless trinkets. Well, that might be a little dramatic. There are other things that annoy me more than trinkets. That being said.

I did go to a garage sale once, and for some reason, I couldn’t resist a vintage looking mug-bowl. Why? I have no idea.

I didn’t need it.

I don’t love vintage.

I probably had to struggle through my purse, maybe even walk back to my car, to find the quarters to pay for it.

But believe me, my mug-bowl and I were destined for each other.

Which brings me to the topic of this post. Morning Grains… more specifically, oatmeal. Unlike garage sales, I adore oats. And here’s the thing: I love oats significantly more when they are being eaten from my treasured mug-bowl.

Morning grains topped with brown sugar in a mug.

And here’s the other thing. I love oats the absolute most when they have melting brown sugar and butter on top. Yes, I said butter.

I know many of you are healthy eaters. You like oatmeal with things like protein powder on top. Or something. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I wish I could be like you. I have tried to swap my butter habit for a little bit of peanut butter, or maybe fruit? But try as I may, I cannot deny having dessert for breakfast!

So, let me ask you oatmeal lovers, what do you put on your oatmeal? And bonus points if you have eaten anything from a mug-bowl before.

Fruit in a clear glass container.

Don’t worry, I still eat fruit for breakfast, too.

I love my bowl of oatmeal in the mornings! Never tried it with butter and brown sugar though.. I eat mine with milk, loads of homemade applesauce and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Slightly healthier but oh so good, I love my applesauce!
Love your blog by the way!

We must be kindred spirits, at least about oatmeal. That is also my favorite way to eat them. The other way we eat them is cook the oatmeal and walnuts, chopped apple (skin on) and a bit of cinnamon all together. Then add the butter and brown sugar, lol I have recently found some recipes for baked oatmeal that is great to eat and lasts for a coupe of days. Also oatmeal cooked in a mug in the microwave. You can add all kinds of stuff. Dried fruit etc…… I’m on Pinterest.

    Happy Sunday Lindsay,

Selling things online can be alot of fun if anyone puts their mind to it. It really has to be something a person wants to do, as many people think selling things online will make them rich quickly. Online selling is a patient process anyone can prosper in if they focus and most importantly, build deep personal relationships with their target audience in longevity. I always tell people that the best way to sell is not trying to sell, and have an off-topic conversation. This way, you humanize everything and seem less “salesish.” Am I right my friend? 🙂

I only recently learned the beauty of oats with butter…. especially with salt, pepper, beef breakfast sausages and raisins. I love other oat recipes, or traditional oats, but not as much as with sausages and raisins!

I have recently discovered the phenomenon of baked oatmeal. Healthy but absolutely decadent (and possibly life changing). Here’s a link from Chocolate Covered Katie
