Fresh Mango Lassi

1 reviews / 5 average

I’m hunnnngry.

All.the.time.

I thought I was hungry in Minnesota, but dang. This new life in the Philippines has me eating at least 18 times a day. I’m blaming it on the sweltering heat and humidity along with a laundry list of other things, such as my new permanently shiny-faced-and-electrocuted-hair style.

Speaking of hotness, I hear there’s some kind of crazy heat wave back in the States. So if you didn’t already need this, now you N-E-E-D this. Like, for electrolytes and hydration and stuff.

Mango lassi in two glasses with a spoon.

This little lassi was a last ditch effort to cool myself down after walking about a mile home from the school wearing black heels and – wait for it – black dress pants. I don’t think the Loft had me walking down Banawa Road in mind when they designed those pants. Oiy.

Fast forward to me sitting in our prized air conditioned room, in shorts, drinking a sweet, juicy, creamy, decadent mango lassi and feeling my body temperature cool by about 100 degrees per second.

This was THE most refreshing thing I’ve had since I’ve been here in the Philippines.

Yogurt, mango, sugar.

WIN.

Fresh Mango Lassi

Description

This fresh mango lassi is made with just 3 ingredients: mango, yogurt, and sugar. Super simple, super yummy. Perfection in a glass!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain lowfat yogurt
  • 1 large, ripe mango
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or honey, agave, Truvia, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients.
  2. Drink and love.

Notes

If you are planning ahead, put the mango in the refrigerator so it’s nice and cold for your smoothie.

You can add a few ice cubes to this to cool it down even more, but I didn’t use ice (can’t drink the water here) and it was SO GOOD without it that I wouldn’t include it even if I did have access to clean ice.

P.S. Happy 4th of July, American friends!

I’ll be celebrating with you by overeating the grilled burgers, potato salad, chips, and ice cream at our American staff party. I’ve always been kind of patriotic like that.

OMG it looks like you’re living in a mango paradise. With fresh, juicy, and delicious mangoes everywhere. Forget about humidity, your hair, cockroaches and everything. You have MANGOES.

This looks so totally refreshing, I could really go for one now. Humidity is the worst isn’t it?

Yum! These do look perfect for this crazy weather we’re having. (Although I do live in northern MN, so it’s not quite as hot, but hot enough for me!)

Love mango blended with anything…this is great. And being hungry all the time…when I’m traveling or in a warm climate and/or always on the go, walking here there and everywhere, yes, I’m the same. I bet you are so active compared to your old life!

Filipino mangos are the best. You’re so lucky!! Even if I made this recipe here, I’m sure it wouldn’t be half as good as yours. Regardless, I will be making them! hehe this looks so refreshing for the 90-100 degree heat we are having over here.

On Fridays, I share my favorite food finds in a series called Food Fetish Friday – and I love this post so I’m featuring it as part of the roundup (with a link-back and attribution). I hope you have no objections and it’s always fun to be following along with your creations…

I am so glad you found my blog and I found yours! I love seeing the perspective of people who have moved to my little group of islands 🙂 And you certainly discovered one of the best ways to keep cool!

I love munggo beans too and there are more recipes on my blog aside from the current one 🙂 They are so versatile! I’m from Manila but if you have any questions just let me know and I’ll do my best 🙂 Wishing you the best for your stay here!

Thanks Kathy! The good news is that even though the Minnesota variety aren’t as good as these fresh Filipino ones, when it’s all blended up it should still taste delicious. The other good news is that I will make one of these for you when you come here in a few months. 🙂 Yay!

This looks amazing, but the mangoes are just not the same outside of the Philippines! I’ll have to try it the next time I visit. Very impressed by your husband and you moving to the Philippines for a year! Even with Filipino blood, I can’t handle the heat and the humidity for stints longer than family visits and vacation.
