Long Live Easy Appetizers!

This Boursin appetizer is now in my back pocket forever.

Creamy Boursin spread on a plate, topped with salted pistachios, and drizzled with hot honey. Done. It takes all of 5 minutes and it is like a people magnet. It’s SO GOOD.

I am making this Boursin appetizer blog-official because I’ve been getting lots of questions about it on Instagram, but you hardly need a recipe at all:

  • Spread Boursin on a plate (affiliate link to the one in these pics!).
  • Top with pistachios and hot honey.
  • Live that best life.

It has been such a hit with my friends at dinner parties and hang outs. And, maybe even better, it’s also been a hit here at my house where I’ve now taken to making this plate on a random weeknight to have as an easy appetizer eaten on the deck outside with my kids. It is the happiest hour.

Several of you have told me that fig jam on top (before pistachios) is also heavenly – I have to say, I’m attached to my current version but I do believe you that fig jam is a power move. Mentioning in case someone wants to take that and run with it.

Hope you love this one as much as I do!

Recipes from my dinner party in the picture above: roasted red pepper pasta, air fryer chicken, house favorite garlic bread, and avocado kale caesar! Also the salad bowl pictured above which I LOVE (affiliate link).

Boursin Appetizer with Pistachios and Honey

  • Author: Lindsay
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 6 as an appetizer 1x

Description

This easy appetizer comes together lightning quick with just 3 ingredients: creamy Boursin, pistachios, and hot honey.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • one 5.4 ounce wheel of Boursin cheese (I like the garlic herb flavor)
  • 1/2 cup roasted salted shelled pistachios, chopped or crushed (about 1/4 cup crushed)
  • 34 tablespoons hot honey (affiliate link)
  • crackers or apple slices for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prep (Optional): Let the Boursin come to room temperature for 15 minutes. (Optional – this just makes it easier to spread, dip, and eat.)
  2. Spread Cheese: Grab a pretty plate or platter – even just a nice dinner plate will work. Use the back of a spoon to press the Boursin onto the plate in an even layer.
  3. Add Toppings: Top with the pistachios. Drizzle with hot honey.
  4. Serve: Serve with crackers or apple slices. I like to throw a small spoon on the plate to make it easier to spread the dip on the crackers. It’s so good!

Notes

Crackers: I served these with a flat garlic thyme cracker at the last dinner party I had and it was so good! But really, this dip would go with just about any type of crackers.

Chopper: I love this little chopper for crushing or chopping nuts (and sauces, and veggies – I use it all the time)! Just a few pulses and you’re good to go. So quick and easy.

I’m from the UK… This looks delicious! But, what is hot honey? Is it just honey heated up, or does it have some spice in it?

  2. Pinch of Yum Logo

I made this for a family get together and it was very well received. Instead of honey, I put jalapeño jam and loved the flavor. Great Recipe. Thank you!

  3. Pinch of Yum Logo

I added all of the ingredients to my shopping list after I saw this on your IG! Do you think it would work with any soft cheese like a goat cheese?

  4. Pinch of Yum Logo

OK, I know I’m a party pooper but I really don’t like pistachios. Any suggestions for a replacement? Or should I just leave them off?

  5. Pinch of Yum Logo

Big, BIG hit at a friend’s gathering this past weekend. Made it in a disposable pie pan from Dollar Tree, served with regular & whole wheat crackers from Aldi.
This was a super casual get together, I would likely use a nice, more decorative serving plate and fancier crackers had we not all been hanging out in pajamas. Every single person asked for the “recipe”.
This is a winner FOR SURE!

I only use raw honey from a local beekeeper. Is there a way I can infuse it with some kind of peppers or chili flakes to make my own hot honey?

  6. Pinch of Yum Logo

Okay, I plan to make this, but I also love your serving dish! Where did you get that cute scalloped dish? Thank you!

This is the best. We always make it with the boursin cheese then top with fig preserves then the pistachios and then drizzle the hot honey on the top. I don’t think you can mess this up. The flavor is fabulous with any combo. It’s always the first thing to go. Thanks for reminding me of this. YUM!

dying to make the pistachio appetizer!
What hot honey do you recommend, tried one that had to be spooned out, not able to drizzle and only tasted like honey?? no hot? Can you please tell me what kind and where do I get the one you used. Looks delicious!

This is so so yummy!! I plan to eat the whole thing for dinner 🤤thanks for a other great recipe’!

This sounds like pure magic on a plate! I love how simple yet fancy it feels — definitely trying this at my next hangout. Thanks for sharing such a delicious idea.
