Boursin Appetizer with Pistachios and Honey

Long Live Easy Appetizers!

Lindsay Ostrom headshot.

This Boursin appetizer is now in my back pocket forever.

Creamy Boursin spread on a plate, topped with salted pistachios, and drizzled with hot honey. Done. It takes all of 5 minutes and it is like a people magnet. It’s SO GOOD.

I am making this Boursin appetizer blog-official because I’ve been getting lots of questions about it on Instagram, but you hardly need a recipe at all:

  • Spread Boursin on a plate (affiliate link – similar to the plate in these pictures!).
  • Top with pistachios and hot honey.
  • Live that best life.

It has been such a hit with my friends at dinner parties and hang outs. And, maybe even better, it’s also been a hit here at my house where I’ve now taken to making this plate on a random weeknight to have as an easy appetizer eaten on the deck outside with my kids. It is the happiest hour.

Dinner table with pasta, chicken, and boursin dip.

Several of you have told me that fig jam on top (before pistachios) is also heavenly – I have to say, I’m attached to my current version but I do believe you that fig jam is a power move. Mentioning in case someone wants to take that and run with it.

Hope you love this one as much as I do!

Recipes from my dinner party in the picture above: roasted red pepper pasta, air fryer chicken, house favorite garlic bread, and avocado kale caesar! Also a similar salad bowl to the one pictured above which I LOVE (affiliate link).

Don’t miss more dips and appetizers here!

Boursin Appetizer with Pistachios and Honey

Description

This easy appetizer comes together lightning quick with just 3 ingredients: creamy Boursin, pistachios, and hot honey.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • one 5.4 ounce wheel of Boursin cheese (I like the garlic herb flavor)
  • 1/2 cup roasted salted shelled pistachios, chopped or crushed (about 1/4 cup crushed)
  • 3–4 tablespoons hot honey (affiliate link)
  • crackers or apple slices for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prep (Optional): Let the Boursin come to room temperature for 15 minutes. (Optional – this just makes it easier to spread, dip, and eat.)
  2. Spread Cheese: Grab a pretty plate or platter – even just a nice dinner plate will work. Use the back of a spoon to press the Boursin onto the plate in an even layer.
  3. Add Toppings: Top with the pistachios. Drizzle with hot honey.
  4. Serve: Serve with crackers or apple slices. I like to throw a small spoon on the plate to make it easier to spread the dip on the crackers. It’s so good!

Notes

Crackers: I served these with a flat garlic thyme cracker at the last dinner party I had and it was so good! But really, this dip would go with just about any type of crackers.

Chopper: I love this little chopper for crushing or chopping nuts (and sauces, and veggies – I use it all the time)! Just a few pulses and you’re good to go. So quick and easy.

This dip has absolutely no business being as good as it is! And it’s so easy to make! Definitely making again and again and again and again!

  2. Pinch of Yum Logo

Can I double the cheese for a large crowd? If I double it should I also double the amount of pistachios and honey?

      1. Pinch of Yum Logo

Will this hold up if I pre make this for a friend? Should she refrigerate it until she serves it?

  3. Pinch of Yum Logo

This dip is to die for, and I ate the entire plate! Lol
I used a 1/2 of the Boursin cheese package, and drizzled with the hot honey last.
Trust me, it’s not hot at all, and I actually added more at the end.
I also did not have pistachios so I substituted candied walnuts and they were so good. The extra sweetness is a nice touch.
I highly recommend having the apples along side of the crackers. I used Pecan nut thins, which are my favorite.
I cannot wait to make this again and take it to parties as an appetizer- it’s sure to be a hit!
    Thank you!

I love this recipe. It’s very easy to make. I now include craisins and sliced almonds.

  5. Pinch of Yum Logo

This has been my go to recipe for the holiday seasons! It’s always a hot.

Also, another very well known food blogger seems to have completely ripped off your recipe without giving you credit, and that sucks.

  6. Pinch of Yum Logo

Are you aware a troublesome food blogger basically used your recipe as an original? The ingredient list and recipe instructions are so very similar. Does that happen often? Does it bother you? It seems so wrong.

I only have the cranberry pepper cheese on hand. Will this work, or is the flavour of this cheese too strong?

  8. Pinch of Yum Logo

This is fantastic! Made this for the first time tonight for family thanksgiving. Everybody loved it! Luckily I bought enough to make more tomorrow.

I’ve made a similar recipe however it included fig jam on top of the cheese spread before the nuts and honey. Also delicious!

  10. Pinch of Yum Logo

Brought this to a party tonight and it was one of the first things to go!

I found that once the hot honey was added to the appetizer it was harder to detect the heat, so pick a honey that’s just a bit too spicy for you on its own.

I warmed 1/4 cup of honey with 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes until simmering, then strained out the pepper flakes and added 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar. I’ll let it simmer for a minute longer next time for more kick.

Maybe this is a “this recipe just isn’t for you” situation, but any suggestions for a pistachio substitute. Would love to bring this to Thanksgiving but we have a few pistachio allergies in the family.

5 stars….I made this for several people to get different reviews. My brother was scrunch his nose because of the honey but tried it. He really liked it (which was amazing) and so did the rest of us. Definitely a keeper.

The only change I did was using regular honey since that was what I had but in doing the hot honey next time.

  13. Pinch of Yum Logo

This is amazing! My Book Club Girls loved it! I found the best hot honey at Pine Apple Mercantile Company.
This will be a go to appetizer for me! Thank you!

  14. Pinch of Yum Logo

This is 10/10. Super simple and SO much flavor. Used Mike’s hot honey for the first time and I see why it I so popular. I actually made this twice in one weekend! I used pita crackers to dip.

  15. Pinch of Yum Logo

Loved! In Summer, top with slices of bing cherries. In Fall, with cranberries. Served with plain crostini.

  16. Pinch of Yum Logo

I made this Boursin , pistachio, hot honey app last night for friends! Everyone loved it! Yum. Thanks for the recipe.

  17. Pinch of Yum Logo

my guests really loved this recipe. i am dairy free so i made it with kite hill chive cream cheese, made my own hot honey and topped with chopped pistachios. Not a drop was left…and no one knew it was dairy free. another keeper!
