Hot Fudge Cake with Peanut Butter Sauce

3 reviews / 4 average

Hot fudge sauce on my couch, my sweatpants, and my camera.

And Bjork just informed me that I have a little leftover on my face.  #worthit

This, well, there are no words for this.  This is chocolate peanut butter perfection.  I thought I had already found chocolate peanut butter perfection, which I pretty much did.  But here comes chocolate peanut butter perfection round two, and it’s taking on a whole new level of ooey-gooey deliciousness.

And guess what?  Just guess.  You will never guess what I’m about to tell you, but I want you to guess anyways.   I hate it when people do that.

Here it be: this chocolate euphoria is essentially guilt-free!  Essentially!  Like, eat it and get skinny.

I’m totally kidding and serious at the same time right now.  Just look at the stats below.

After I made this, I was feeling real good and real healthy.

But then something predictable happened.  My brain went —> chocolate —> must.have.peanut.butter.  And then I whipped up a little batch of not-guilt-free creamy dreamy peanut butter sauce.  I added a teeny tiny spoonful of said sauce to my cake.  And ever since that moment I’ve been drowning in peanut butter sauce.

Oh my wonderfulness.  This stuff is heavenly.  Which is why I did us all a favor by keeping the peanut butter sauce nutrition facts to myself, k?  Yep.

PS. I used my regular slow cooker for this recipe which is a Crock-Pot that I’ve had for the last five years. SO MUCH FOOD has come out of that thing over the life of this blog which is pretty impressive for a $28 kitchen appliance.

Description

This hot fudge cake is made in the crockpot and covered with homemade peanut butter sauce. Gooey, delicious, and super easy to make!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar (unpacked, divided)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (divided)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter (divided)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla (divided)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar (divided)
  • 1 3/4 cups boiling water
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Mix together 1 cup brown sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Stir in milk, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Spread in a greased crockpot on high setting.
  3. Whisk 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons white sugar, and 1/4 cup cocoa powder together. Sprinkle over the batter in the crockpot. Pour boiling water over the top – do not stir! Let cook for 2 hours.
  4. For peanut butter sauce: melt corn syrup, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 tablespoons melted butter over medium low heat. When sugar has dissolved, add peanut butter and stir until melted. Keep warm until serving.

As I mentioned, the nutrition facts are just for the ooey gooey fudge cake.  You don’t even want to know about the sauce.

Just go eat some healthy cake covered in peanut butter sauce and all will be right with the world.

No joke – I just had a few bites of the leftovers as a breakfast “appetizer”. 🙂

Another crockpot wonder!! I love that this incorporates the best flavors ever (choc and PB)!

I know. I need to cool it for a while with the chocolate and PB combos. But not really.

This looks so warm and comforting! Drizzling a little bit of that peanut butter sauce over a healthy little portion-controlled cake is just you practicing moderation 😉 I’d be sorely tempted to eat the sauce straight off a spoon. Call it minimalism.

Hahaha! Thanks for the vote of confidence. But I’m sure you already know that I’ve eaten waaaay more than just one spoonful of that sauce.

Thanks Emily! PS. Have you tried BT McElrath’s Salty Dog Chocolate Bars (Minneapolis based company)? They will convert you to the dark side.

This cake looks absolutely delicious! I’m not a fan of PB (I’m weird, I know!), but I’m going to try it with ice cream 🙂

I was actually working off of an old recipe for the cake. But the sauce… well… sometimes you just know what works. Like butter, sugar, and peanut butter. 🙂

I know, I don’t usually bake in a crockpot. 🙂 But it was awesome for a lazy evening dessert.

Hot fudge is my weakness. I could eat it with everything. This looks so delicious! Come visit us. We have pumpkin fried rice today. And be sure to stop by on Friday and register to win a party dress from The Shabby Apple.

Did you just scoop it into ramekins after baking in the crock pot or is there a way to make it in the ramekins? It looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it!

    1. Pinch of Yum Logo

Yep – just scooped it up and into the ramekins. It’s a little bit messy because it’s like a molten cake, so it’s better eaten from a bowl.

I love that a. this is made in a crock pot, and b. that it will make me skinny!
Really looks amazing…doesn’t get much better than chocolate and peanut butter in my book…

I love the role reversal here! Hot fudge CAKE getting a SAUCE put on it. Very witty, not to mention it sounds delicious! Why does peanut sauce so often get left with dinner? It seems like a logical step over to dessert. Well played. Well played.

Wow. I sort of want this right now, and it’s not even 7 AM yet. Plus, I can’t eat that in front of the kids because that’s what they’ll want it for breakfast too – then I’d have a trophy-winning “naughty-mom” day. . . . This is NOT going to help my recovery from Thanksgiving.
BTW – Love the new pic in the sidebar! 😉

Thanks Sara! 🙂 It only took about 50 tries to get the right photo. You know how it goes.
