Time for Christmas listing.
This year, that means ordering a few smallish, lightish things on Amazon and having them shipped to family and friends, also known as I’ll just give you a real present next year.
Followed by a trip to the zoo mall to buy waveboards, remote control cars, and watches for the kids at the orphanage. I’ve been asking around with the preteen kids to find out everyone is hoping for this year, and some of their gift ideas just plain old MELT me. Like my girls told me, in all seriousness, that they want math workbooks. For working on MATH. And plain white paper, and stickers, and “ball pens”. And jeans.
Ok, fine, I’ll buy it all for everyone.
{I honestly did not start out this post with the intent of sharing these links with you, but so many of you have generously asked about it before that I feel like now would be a good time to mention it – the orphanage that I’m working at has an Amazon wish list, a special projects donation page, and a child sponsorship program if you are interested in being a part of our Christmas giving here at the shelter! Thank you to those of you who have already expressed interest!}
High on my personal list this year:
- Cheap bronzer. I’ve been hibernating in the air conditioning for the last 6 months.
- A new pink water bottle filled with pink Gatorade, except I don’t even like Gatorade. What? The Philippines confuses me.
- BT McElrath Salted Toffee Dark Chocolate bars, frozen. I hope I die with one of those in my mouth.
In other news, did you know that the only thing better than eating Gingerbread French Toast in your red thrift store Tshirt and striped pajama shorts is watching it happen all over again on your iPhone, set to twinkly music, so many times that your husband asks you to put in headphones? Well, it is.
How To Make Our Gingerbread French Toast:
Sweetened condensed milk, powdered sugar, and maple syrup. It’s like my life just flashed before my eyes, in the best possible way. It’s also like we have ants now.
But anyways.
You probably need to get going on your gingerbread. Oh happy day!

Awyeah.
I came to your blog to print out the Gingerbread Loaves with Lemon Glaze recipe and you post this! Now I need to print out this recipe as well, can never have too much gingerbread I say.
Also, you mentioned making updates to your e-book, when will the updated version be available for purchase?
Not for a while. We have a lot to do with Food Blogger Pro launching soon and that’s first priority right now! But the updated version will be sent out via email when it’s all set to go. 🙂
Thanks for the reply Lindsay! IDK if I can wait for the updated version, lol, may just get the current one, thanks.
If you get the current one, you will automatically get the updated version for free!
Awesome news! Thanks Lindsay.
This is making breakfast for dinner sound like a GREAT idea tonight. Mmmm… I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this little delight 🙂
I must find or make gingerbread just so I can make this!
Oh this sounds like the best idea ever! The only thing that I can of that’s better than gingerbread is sweet and sticky gingerbread french toast.
PS that twinkly music is going to stay in my head all day and I love it!
I need to make your gingerbread & who knows if it would ever even make it to the french toast stage before being gobbled as-is. Both this and that look amazing! Love the sweetened condensed milk in the recipe, too 🙂
I’ve never been a big fan of gingerbread but you make this look appetizing and yummy.
Dang hope my wife doesn’t spot this recipe…she will have it everyday for a month! lol Looks good…
Cute video! I’m sure your friends and family wish you were home in the US to make this for them (among other reasons)!
Awesome! My family actually does brunch every year for Christmas, and we always have french toast. Perhaps it’s time to change it up and have some GINGERBREAD french toast?!
I absolutely love using flavored and fancy breads for french toast! This one is making my mouth water… How delicious would this be Christmas morning?
I just did some gingerbread pancakes not long ago and had a reader share a recipe for gingerbread cinnamon rolls with me. Ohhhh mah goodness. I just finished up soft gingerbread cookies with orange frosting set to post this weekend. And now!! French toast. Too much gingerbread? Never.
french toast made from zucchini bread is my favorite french toast ever… until I try THIS one, that is… condensed milk? you beautiful genius, you.
math workbooks for presents. so so sweet!
You did NOT just make french toast out of gingerbread. I happen to have a loaf of gingerbread in my fridge RIGHT NOW. Which is just going to waste. Christmas miracle!
Love this post. Your video is so cute! LOL the music over and over again until your hubby asks you to put headphones on – sounds like my house 🙂 BTW totally drooling over this yummy breakfast recipe/idea. Never thought to use gingerbread this way before. You rock.
I have been making a lot of my breads into french toast but never thought of gingerbread. Yum, I bet this is incredible!
I was accidentally called “Mrs.Ostrom” again today. I love it when that happens. You may be living a zillion miles away, but we think of you all the time! On a food related note… I’ve never seen a loaf of gingerbread in a store. Is it sold in the bakery, like a nut bread?
I don’t know, actually! I just made this loaf as a quick bread last weekend and had some left over. The gingerbread recipe is linked above the french toast recipe. But this would be amazing with any quick bread, really… banana bread… zucchini bread… yummm 🙂
this looks so good! i hope i would be able to make this one someday 🙂
Honestly! Your recipes and pics are divine! Can’t wait to try.
Oh, this looks so good! I love the lists – all of them. How will you be spending Christmas? I can’t wait to hear about it with the kids!
Aw, thanks Sara! How are you?? We have tons of events going on with the kids… can’t wait to share pictures when it’s all said and done! 🙂
Breakfast time can’t come soon enough! Looks divine!
What a great idea for French Toast – gingerbread, love it!
Darling video! Love it!!

Looks like I’ll be making this Christmas morning 🙂
