Hey guys! It’s a random Tuesday. I’m sippin’ on some coffee and eating a leftover blueberry scone in my, um, nicest outfit (hahah), at home. Minnesota is bone-chillingly cold and our district has canceled school again. How about ten fun things to keep me feeling semi-productive and toasty-warm inside?
1. YOU.
Starting out mushy: you are single-handedly the best thing about this blog. It makes me so ridiculously happy to hear about your positive experiences and your personal connections via email, comments, or social media. Keep sharing those stories and experiences, and if you’re posting pictures on IG or Twitter, I’d be thrilled if you use the hashtag #pinchofyum so I can find you and stalk you as a virtual friend. I mean, ummm.
2. The Book Thief.
I’m not even done and I’m recommending it. Is that cheating?
3. My Baby Nephew.
His arrival is in March, at which point in time I will adore him by nibbling on his soft and chubby baby thighs.
4. These Mini Chalkboards.
These adorable little chalkboards were SO perfect at my sister’s baby shower! They are equally as awesome for things like Christmas parties and treat day at the office. Light, stylish, and practical. Badda bing. They’re normally meant for weddings and therefore they’re listed for sale in big bunches, but I don’t have a whole set; I just have a six of her tall ones and six of her short ones. Thank you to the sweet Etsy shop, Charlie Chalk Designs!
5. My Headband.
First of all, I feel compelled to tell you that this is not me lest you should think I’m way more hipster glam that I am in real life, okay? But I did own it for a few weeks between Christmas and the Washington, D.C. trip and looked about 1/6th as cool as this lady.
Regardless, this is so cute and cozy warm. Or more like it WAS cute and cozy warm but then I lost it in D.C. along with my credit card because I’m awesome like that. If you find it, you might as well just keep it. I mean, it’s not like I need it up here in Siberia.
6. THIS RECIPE.
I am dying to share, and it will be coming soon in the form of a POY fun new thingie. With lots more recipes. Can you see me smiling through the screen? I am I am I am. EEP!
7. Yoga-Pilates Fusion.
To clarify, I’ve never been into the whole yoga scene. Or pilates. I usually arrive eight to ten years late to these sorts of trends.
But I’m becoming one of those people. It’s almost, like, fun. Especially the part where you wear those comfy yoga pants. But at what point do you stop shaking while doing those little leg circles?
8. Our Very Own Little Yum Sweet Home.
It’s coming together! Except for the millions of boxes downstairs and the soon to be torn apart kitchen. Like kitchen wall = coming down. With hammers and stuff. I keep wanting to share some pictures of what we have done, but then I look around and realize that what we’ve done is actually, um, exactly what you see pictured. That framed print I was going to hang before Christmas is still leaning against the door over there. And that lightbulb/lamp with a little reddish tint continues to be an extremely frustrating and unsolvable mystery. You know how it is. We’ll get there.
Or then again, will we? Welcome to home ownership. We love it.
9. Peanut Butter Cheesecake Brownies.
Sweet Stephanie, my talented, inspiring, and adorably pregnant food blogging friend, made these for our little dinner double date last week. And Dear Joanne, original author of this chocolate therapy, your food spirit was there with us. S0 good x100.
10. My Planner.
Or more accurately, my Day Designer. Isn’t that just screaming to be italicized? I imagine saying it out loud every time with an accent. I don’t even know.
This pretty book has been instrumental in helping me set purposeful goals for my days and defining a big-picture purpose and direction for my life. Whooooa now. That’s a lot of seriousness from one little planner. But really, it’s great. Thanks to Jessica from How Sweet Eats for the rec.
Have any fun things to add to the list? Happy Tuezzzday!
My planner should be shipping any day now! It feels like Ive been waiting forever! I think I need to order 2015 right now 🙂 LMK how you like yours!
It’s really great. I took about 2 hours to fill out the front planning pages that really look more deeply at who you are, what you’re good at, and what your values are and then use that to map out your year, your months, and your days. It’s made me be really intentional with my time and it forces me to list three fun things I’m going to do each weekend, so, yeah. 🙂 The best.
I’m so jealous that you don’t have to work today! I’m lying in bed trying to drag myself out to walk the dog and go to work. However it is 80 degrees today in Miami so I can’t complain too much 🙂
EIGHTY DEGREES. there is life.
So fun! I love that headband. You should buy yourself another one! Ahh, such a great list. Baby thighs FTW~
I know. I’m thinking about it. Maybe a V-day gift, Bjork? 😉
I ‘ve just read the summary of the book you recommend on Amazon, pretty intense but I’m intrigued now. I’m definitely going to grab it at B&N in my lunch break. Thanks for the tip!
And big congrats to your sister. Becoming an uncle (or in your case an aunt) is one of the best things ever.
You get to spoil your niece/nephew as much as you want and never feel bad about it!
Crazy midwest! I plan on trying your red thai curry sauce tonight!
The Book Thief is a wonderful book by the way. You will finish it SOON.
Your home looks so cute! And those peanut butter cheesecake brownies look ah-mazing! It’s always fun to eat with people who love food!
I just finished the Book Thief two days ago, and totally second your recommendation. Everyone should read this book.
I love PLANNERS. That is cute and if it has all the stuff you said… I think I need to find it. All your Minnesota cold talk is making me jealous. Thankfully we get to go back to it in 2.5 weeks and freeze our tushies off!
OMG, that headband is great! Where can I get one??
It should be linked! That particular one is sold (um, to me) but the shop has lots of great similar ones.
See, I got so exicted I didn’t even notice the link! 🙂
Love love LOVE The Book Thief. I finished it last week and was completely immersed in it for the week I read it. What incredible storytelling. I hope you enjoy the rest of it!
Also, just found your blog yesterday, and it is delightful. I’m following via BlogLovin as well as Instagram. Keep up the fabulous work!
Thanks for saying hi, Allison! 🙂
Hi!
I love your cute little home!! and that headband is sooo cute! my sister is having a baby in march as well! and those pb cheesecake brownies.. I might make them today! the book thief is an amazing book. those chalkboards are precious! basically I love this post. 🙂 thanks for sharing.
I just got The Book Thief, and I cannot wait to start reading!
I also got the same planner, and it should be here any day. I’m even more excited for it to arrive after reading your review!!
Just added The Book Thief to my reading list! We’re having a snow day down here in the south and it’s the perfect day to jump into a new novel.
So many happy hearts for this post. And Kristin’s belly bump. And those brownies (which are all gone now, sigh). And your friendship. 🙂
Ah yes. I think our leftover brownies lasted something like thirty minutes.
I’m totally jealous (but not) of the fact you don’t have school! It is our first day of semester 2 & my students are going bananas — not in a good way!
But it is about 48 in the rainy (finally) northwest, so I can’t complain too much.
Those noodles look amazing. The Book Thief was amazing. (I also read The Storyteller, also amazing!)
Anyhow, I love all these things!
#11. Reading this post. Your house is adorable, by the way. The fun never stops. We bought a house last year and there is always a project. Keep us posted!
Thanks Jackie! 🙂
Do you mean you are into yoga already? Really, try it. I have been doing yoga for 5 years now , and I am still in the intermediate category but I love it. It helps my back feel better and make me relax too.
I have just been doing some yoga-pilates fusion workouts at my gym and they are great. 🙂 I love them!
Looove your planner (looked at it on etsy), but is it really $60?? I need to find a similar one cheaper!
Actually I bought one that was called “Already Authentic” so it was more like $45. Still a lot, but it’s a pretty detailed planner with lots of more personal goal setting worksheets. The one I bought was priced cheaper because a few of the pages have less clear ink on them. It’s hardly noticeable at all and definitely worth the savings. 🙂
I just finished the Book Thief last night. It is one of those books that I just “HAD” to keep reading to find out what happens in the story. glad you are enjoying it too. I look forward to seeing how you made that sauce on the pasta & chicken dish!
🙂 🙂
What a fun post 🙂 I now have a book to grab (thank you)! And… I’ve heard so much about Whitney’s Day Designers- it sounds amazing! Thanks for the fun inspiration.
I wish I would have known about that planner sooner. I just ordered an Erin Condren. I’m sure I’ll love it, but I would have liked for it to have times separated out like the Day Designer. Peanut butter, cheesecake, brownies….. could you even fit more delicious foods into one?!?!?!
My book club loved The Book Thief (but I hesitate to see the movie) and I love your headband and your blog.
Thank you,
Terri
I ALMOST watched the movie just so I could still get the story before we went to Washington, D.C. but then at the last minute I stayed strong. I am so glad I didn’t!
The planner is so stinking cute and love that it is helping you be intentional each day, everybody needs help in that. Can’t wait for that creamy noodle recipe to come out, looks amazing! Headband so cute!
Just bought your book and already feel like my pictures have gotten so much better, scrap the light. 🙂 Just started following you and totally loved this post, gave me a closer look into who you are.
PS. from Wisconsin so I can so relate to the dreadful winter months!
Thanks Krista! Glad you liked the book and thanks for checking it out! 🙂
Day planner?! Yes, I probably need that. Because my day-to-day organization is abominable.
I’m so excited for you for your baby nephew!! It’s going to be so fun.
and I’m super glad you guys enjoyed the brownies!!
I love that. All of that. But you really got me at those brownies. Ok, and the diary.
