THE BEST GREEN SMOOTHIE! ♡ The best tasting, best textured green smoothie I’ve ever had. Five ingredients – peaches, mango, kale, almond milk, and ginger.

It’s humble, I know. But sometimes humble and practical is the best. Which is very true in this case.

I’ve tried many green smoothies, and this is the combination I always come back to.

  • Peaches
  • Mangoes
  • Kale
  • Almond milk

Add ginger if you like spice, cinnamon if you like to your fresh smoothies to feel cozy. Honey if you’re not opposed to a little natural sweetener, which, personally, I am not. ♡

How To Make Our Green Smoothie:

I have two favorite things about this green smoothie.

First: the taste and texture are literally the best. It’s smooth and creamy – not icy like a slushie and not runny like a juice. Just a perfectly perfect, creamy, satisfying smoothie.

Second: the moment I remember I had this for breakfast (usually sometime around lunch) and feel so good about myself for already getting so many fruits and veggies in AND IT’S NOT EVEN LUNCH YET. This is a good moment.

Third (bonus, just thought of it right now): you can easily prep it ahead of time with all your other meal prep stuff. Just pack your mango, peaches, kale, and ginger into a bag and freeze it up. When you’re ready to blend, add your liquid of choice and get after it.

One ginger consideration:

I usually use a ginger paste (the kind that you can buy in the tube in the produce section) but I recently realized that sadly it is made with sugar. Sad. No wonder I like it so much. It’s got a full 1 gram of sugar in less than a teaspoon, so since I’m doing the whole Sugar Free January thing and trying to recalibrate my palette away from super-sweet things, lately I have been making it with a hunk of fresh (peeled) ginger. And that seems to work just fine as well. The one thing to consider is that when it’s frozen, it is rock solid, so depending on what kind of blender you have you might want to just let everything sit out for a while before giving it a whirl.

Description

The best basic, smooth, creamy green smoothie. So easy – just blend peaches, mango, kale, almond milk, and ginger. Honey or cinnamon if you want, too! ♡


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup frozen peach slices
  • a handful of kale (stems removed) or spinach
  • 12 cups almond milk
  • 1/2 inch slice of fresh ginger
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
  • honey to taste

Instructions

  1. Blend until smooth!
  2. Enjoy!

Notes

Add more or less almond milk to make this more like a smoothie vs. more like a juice. You can also use water instead of almond milk if you prefer. Coconut water is also nice although it has a bit more natural sugar. Sometimes I find adding a tiny pinch of salt helps the flavor a little bit. This works best with frozen fruit so you get a nice smooth and creamy texture. Protein powder would be a great addition. I’ve also added coconut oil and/or cashews for an extra fat/protein boost. You will get the best results with a high-speed blender, like the Vitamix or the Blendtec. We use both (one at home, one at the studio) and I don’t really have a preference between them. They’re both great. For a good blender that doesn’t cost quite so much, the Ninja brand is pretty good, too. Drink this right after you blend it. You can keep it for later, but be sure shake it up. I don’t recommend drinking it more than 24 hours after you make it.

      I didn’t have kale or peaches so I did spinach, coconut milk, banana, mango, ginger, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Absolutley loved it! It was the perfect break from smoothies with only greens. I peeled the ginger and sliced it into a few rounds to make sure it would blend in well and that worked great.

    YES! Always looking for more green smoothie recipes. Spinach or kale is one of my favorite veggies to toss in a smoothie – a big nutritional punch and can’t taste it! 🙂

    And like everyone else, would also love the link for those bags. I’ve seen Stasher Bags before on Amazon, but sometimes those can get expensive.

    1 – brilliant idea to freeze the ingredients as individual portion sizes.
    2 – Yes, let’s hear more about those bags.
    3 – Kind of amusing to see a recipe with lots of fruit in it in a “sugar-free” month. The fructose in a heavy-on-the-fruit smoothie like this is something you might want to stay away from if you’re serious about avoiding sugar.

    Ginger paste does have added sugar. However, one teaspoon of paste would yield about 1 gram or less added sugar. There are about 5g of sugar in one teaspoon, so you are adding 1/5 of a teaspoon of sugar. That’s a very small amount. Adding banana to the smoothie sounds like a good addition for flavour and texture. There would be much more sugar in half a banana than 1/5 teaspoon.

    Wow–I started a keto diet last week and used that same tube of ginger for a recipe. It didn’t even occur to me to look at the tube, because I assumed it was just ginger. Ugh!!!! Thanks for the heads up!

    I have tried the ginger in the tube and to be honest, it doesn’t taste as good as the fresh real deal. It isn’t hard to grate a bit of ginger in recipes or to throw a small chunk in a smoothie and the taste is much more powerful than the tube ginger.

    Thanks for sharing this recipe. I’ll have to give it a try.

    Smoothies. I absolutely love them. When I used to live in South Florida back in 1999 to 2001, there was a place down in Fort Lauderdale off of A1A and throughout the south Florida area called Smoothie King. Smoothie king was well worth the money. They would whip up some of the most tastiest smoothies you could imagine. Anything from a fruit smoothie, to a protein smoothie, to this smoothie or that smoothie.

    Unfortunately, there is a shortage of smoothie stores on the east coast. If they had more smoothie shops in cities like Philadelphia, Wilmington, Jersey City, Richmond Virginia, Washington DC, and Baltimore Maryland, people would be much healthier. 🙂

    I do something very similar for my kale smoothies. I just sub coconut water for the almond milk, and add some ground flaxseed for extra fiber. I’ll sometimes toss in greek yogurt if I want some protein.

    I am trying *very hard to eat healthy so I decided to start doing smoothies in the morning. So I love this one! Funny story, I reach 7th grade and they saw me drinking it and a girl says “why is it green? Is there KALE in there?” And I said yes and all 20 kids went ewwwww simultaneously lol
